ABOUT OUR GURU
Pandit Divyang Vakil
Pandit Divyang Vakil is one of the world's most respected Tabla gurus, a spiritual healer and teacher of spirituality and philosophy. He began his training in his early childhood and was a student of the most knowledgeable maestros of three gharanas: the late Pandit Sudhirkumar Saxena of the Ajrada gharana, the late Ustad Latif Ahmed Khan of the Delhi gharana and the late Ustad Alla Rakha Khan of the Punjab gharana. His devotion to the preservation of the classical form of tabla is clear in his decision to stop performing over 10 years ago to dedicate himself wholly to teaching and spiritual practices.
Pandit Divyang Vakil's colossal experience of 30 years as a guru has produced innumerable professionals in the world of Indian and International music. As a guru, he is immensely involved in the process of teaching and deals with each of his students on a personal level as he monitors their musical growth. When it comes to the musical progression and advancement of the student, no compromise is permitted.
In addition to being a Guru, Pandit Divyang Vakil is a brilliant tabla composer. His compositions present a modern adaptation of classical tabla. Some his group tabla compositions include Tabla Tarkhat, Tabla Ecstasy and Tabla Triveni to name a few.
Pandit Divyang Vakil 's commitment and dedication to music are exemplary. He is the founder of the Rhythm Riders Music Institute in Ahmedabad, India, and is the founder of SwarGurjari and Taalim Foundation, organizations devoted to furthering the cause of Indian Classical Music.
